In past centuries, our ancestors have weathered many storms, in both the literal sense and figuratively speaking. While there may not have been much they could do in the past to avoid devastation and destruction, in today’s world, there are many precautions we can take to ensure the safety of our family and our property.

Every decade, there is a new type of threat that sits on the horizon looming over us and disturbing our peace of mind. If you are willing to prepare for what may come, you will be able to sleep easy at night knowing that you and your loved ones will be ready.

In the year 2022, there are four very distinct areas of concern that survival preppers must get ready for. They include economics, health, weather, and political unrest. You may be prepared for a short term emergency, such as 72 hours, but you need to take the time to assess your plans and make sure that you are prepared for a long-term event, too – just in case.

Preparing Your Finances for an Economic Disaster

Whether you are living in poverty or are one of the wealthier people in the world, you will be impacted when the economy struggles or suffers from a complete collapse. You have to prepare your finances to withstand the most dire situations, or even a slight squeeze that will bring stress and discomfort to your life.

There are many different issues associated with an economic disaster. We are experiencing many of these at this moment, including inflation – which is the increase of the price of goods and services to a point where many can no longer afford them.

This will happen with your food supply, gas, and other goods and services that you routinely use in your everyday life. You may also be watching an economic situation as a recession takes root.

This is when there is a drop in spending, and this may affect you as an employee or business owner because you won’t be taking in as much when people are unwilling to spend what little they have.

Another problem that can arise is that of supply chain shortages. There are many different reasons for this problem, but you may start to notice that you are unable to find what you need on grocery store shelves and other places, including items for big ticket spending like home building needs, cars or car parts, electronic gadgets, and more.

There are many things you can do now to ward off any sort of financial panic in the year 2022. First and foremost, you need to create a budget that is tightened up and try to stick to it.

In times of economic chaos, you don’t want to be spending haphazardly on unnecessary things. Try to create an emergency savings for you and your family in case anyone is let go of their job or suffers from some sort of medical emergency.

You may even need this income to be able to afford everything that is rising in cost that you feel is a necessity to your life. You want to begin paying off your debt, if you have any.

Do this as soon as possible so that you are only living on expenses that are not incurring interest. If you want to, you can shop smart and buy certain things used or by using discounts and coupons whenever possible.

You can also make some major changes with the debt that you do have. For example, find out about refinancing your mortgage so that you have a lower house payment. You may also be able to call various companies – such as your electric provider, cell phone provider, cable or streaming entertainment, gym membership, etc., and try to negotiate a lower price or better deals for these items.

Be Prepared for the Next Health Event

Many people in today’s world have never truly felt the effects of a health event as they did the pandemic of 2020 and 2021. However, there have been many health threats over the course of the last several decades.

The big difference is in the way the issue spread as well as how the media handled it. Social networking sites and the ability to communicate about it have also played a major role in how this unfolds.

You always want to be ready for a pandemic situation, which can not only cause death and devastation, but also result in panic shopping, business closures, and lockdowns. What makes it more confusing is that every area handles things in a different way.

Each country has different rules and regulations, every state in America handles things differently, and even cities have their own unique laws about how things will run during a health event.

Not only that, but every business and home can set their own rules about how things will be handled, which adds to the confusion and stress among civilians in a society that is dealing with a health issue.

There are many things that you can do to prepare your family for any kind of health tragedy that may hit on a personal level or on a global one. First and foremost, you need to take your health into your own hands in the year 2022 and begin improving it.

That may mean you need to lose weight, begin exercising on a regular basis, have lab work done to determine where your blood panel stands in terms of vitamins and nutrients, and more.

Many people start a New Year’s resolution journey that is simply based on losing weight for appearance’s sake. But the reality is, in this day and age, you want to have your health fortified by looking at everything from your waistline to your immune system.

You can take natural approaches to this. Some people may look to surgical options for weight loss. And you can also look at over the counter supplements and remedies to keep you healthy and fit.

In terms of prepping for health issues, you want to make sure that you have a good stock of all medicinal supplies that you and your family may need in the coming year. That means having everything you need for fevers, respiratory illnesses, and more.

You also need to have first aid supplies that can handle things such as wounds, rashes, tooth pain, and other ailments that would cause severe discomfort for yourself or a loved one.

One thing you need to be aware of is that if a pandemic or something tragic happens in the coming year, it often upsets the supply chain – as it is currently doing, and you may not be able to find the items you need to take care of your health.

You want to have everything on hand, from the supplements and medicines that you need to extra prescription medications if possible, and even gadgets that can help you survive – such as an oximeter or blood pressure machine.

Make sure you take a look at the various ways your nutrition can help you overcome certain illnesses. There are many herbs and spices, as well as natural, old-fashioned remedies that can ease symptoms in the event that you are sick and are unable to make it into your doctor’s office or an emergency room.

During the most recent pandemic, hospitals were overrun in some places and test kits and medicines were in low supply. It’s good to have what you need at home so that you can address it without being forced to go elsewhere for basic treatment.

Make Plans for Inevitable Weather Disasters

There may not always be a pandemic, a war, or and economic collapse. But one thing you can say for certain is that Mother Nature will never fail to deliver some sort of weather disaster on an annual basis.

Depending on where you live, you will have different scenarios that you must have your family prepared for. These may include things like living in a flood zone, a place where wild fires are common, or a location that is prone to periodic tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes.

There's also the threat of simple extreme heat or winter weather that can cause a natural disaster on a large scale. Many times, this is due to the fact that people are not prepared for this type of weather.

They either don't have the supplies on hand that they need or they didn't expect it to happen in their location. There are some places that even have to deal with more rare events, such as volcanoes or tsunamis.

And the one event that many people may have to deal with on a global scale would be a solar flare that could disrupt the grid and cause technology to suffer. It could go unnoticed or it could be a grid-down situation for months or even years, depending on the severity of it.

You want to always be prepared for a variety of weather situations. Even if you live in a warm southern state, you want to be prepared for winter weather if your grid is not capable of handling it, as in the case of Texas in 2021.

Most citizens living there were used to seeing store shelves run out of milk and bread at the most as people hunkered down for a sleet storm once in awhile. But when the grid failed for several days, people died and many suffered and were terrified about what they went through as temperatures dropped to below freezing in their homes.

Likewise, there are many northern states that are not equipped with central air conditioning in homes, and a bout of extreme heat could cause a lot of medical emergencies as well as discomfort.

Make sure that you are covered with the appropriate insurance that is required to rebuild in case a natural disaster wipes out your home and your belongings. You want to be prepared with products that will allow you to live off the grid so that you can cook, charge up your cell phone, and find warmth or cool air whenever necessary.

This might be solar gadgets or a generator that can restore temporary electricity whenever you need it. There are many affordable options. If a generator is out of your price range, look for solar battery banks and solar cookers to help you maintain communications and cooking abilities.

With weather disasters, there are products you need – and strategies you need to learn. Take threats seriously. There’s no need to lose your life because you aren’t taking a hurricane threat to heart.

It’s better to bug out to a different location and keep your family safe than to remain in place and hope nothing bad happens. Even if you have withstood the threat in the past, that doesn’t mean you’ll always survive.

Don't Ignore Political Unrest and Threats

Whether you are talking about domestic or foreign issues, politics and civil issues can create a survival situation in an instant. While some things are easily monitored long in advance, such as foreign relations, other situations may arise within an hour.

For example, an incident may happen that causes civil unrest where citizens are blocking roadways and burning buildings or entering neighbourhoods to intimidate and threaten other citizens.

Even something that starts off peaceful as a protest can quickly spiral out of control, causing you to get caught in a dangerous situation. You want to be ready for any and all events that could derail your way of life.

Start by paying attention to civil matters that are on the news, and listen to the chatter about any protest or reaction that could impact you and your family when commuting or even when at home.

When you are out and about, you want to be aware of any terror threats, whether they come from domestic or foreign entities. From the threat of a school shooting to one that is made against a country as a whole, you want to learn how to spot suspicious behaviour and evacuate quickly.

When it comes to war, many people have become numb to this idea because they have not personally been in the midst of it themselves. Many battles have taken place outside of the United States, but that doesn't mean it will never come to your soil.

Not only do you need to be aware of what is going on in the world because of situations such as the draft, but the threat may be directed at your country or your state. You want to be capable of protecting your family in the event of an invasion or an attack on our land.

There are certain products you can buy as a survival prepper that will help you during wartime or terror events. For example, there are masks and radiation pills that can offer a degree of protection, as well as clothing that will help propel certain dangerous elements.

War today may not be what it was in the past. Instead of governments keeping the battle between military entities, using bombs and planes, there may be more advanced threats, such as crippling our grid.

You will need to know how to listen to information about what is going on using a weather radio or ham radio, and have the tools on hand to serve as defence mechanisms and survival gear that will keep you and your loved ones healthy and safe.

Until Next Time
